Is it ever going to rain again in Southern England?

As the song goes, it never rains in southern california...or south of the watford gap, for that matter.
Why is there a hosepipe ban? I think were due for one,but according to the weatherman were having a heatwave here in the northwest,i think june will be a wet one tho,
