I won't swear to it, but tap water probably contains minerals that plants need and use while bottled water doesn't.

Well I don't know but the thing is that tap water contains nutrients that plant might make themselves useful for.
Tap is better only because it has the natural nutrients whereas the bottled water has been filtered and some of the macronutrients have been filtered out
