A temporary magnet looses its magnetism easily and a permanent magnet keeps its magnetism for a long time.

I don't really think there is such a thing as a 'temporary' magnet. Something is either magnetized or not. The difference is only in degree. Electro-magnets are probably what was meant. They are only magnetic when an electric current is passing through their coils.

Temporary magnets are nothing but electromagnets and the permanent ones are the rare earth magnets
