What is the difference betwen coniferous and deciduous?

Deciduous trees go dormant in the winter and drop their leaves in the fall. A Coniferous tree, usually evergreens, have needles and cones and don't lose their foliage in the cold.

I think the only tree that diverges from that is the Tamarack. It considered both coniferous and deciduous .

Yep, there are exceptions to both descriptions I mentioned but way too much info to post here, especially for someone named Anonymous.
