Well I went poking around Scientific American with your interesting question, and they claim there are enough bacteria in a healthy human adult to fill a half-gallon jug!

That works out to around 100 trillion...ten bacterial cells for each human cell...and even our chromosomes; the Human Genome Project believes they have located around forty genes that are of bacterial origin.
