Riverdale basically is a middle and upper middle class residential neighbourhood located in the northwest Bronx County, New York City.

Riverdale is approximately three square miles in area. It is bounded by the city of Yonker and Westchester towards the north, towards the east by Van Cortlandt Park and the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, towards the west by Hudson River and towards the south by Harlem River. The five subdivision of Riverdale are Spuyten Duyvil, South Riverdale, Central Riverdale, Fieldston and North Riverdale.

According to census conducted in the year 2000, the total population of this region was 45,000. Housing in Riverdale varies from multi-story public housing buildings varying from the 1950s and 60s, architecturally illustrious houses constructed towards the 20th century, generally in Georgian and Tudor-revival styles.
