Acetic acid also very well known as ethanoic acid is basically a kind of organic chemical compound. It gives out a very pungent as well as a sour taste something very much similar to vinegar. Another type of acetic acid is the one which is pure water-free acetic acid. This is basically very colourless hygroscopic liquid and also it freezes very much below 16.7°C (62°F) and if frozen still further it turns into a colourless crystalline solid.

Acetic acid is generally very corrosive and the vapour of this can lead to some kind of irritation in your eye and even end up giving you a sore throat and congestion to the lungs. It is also considered as one of the simplest carboxylic acids. It is also used as an ingredient in the manufacturing of polyethylene terephthalate, which are used in soft drink bottles and also cellulose acetate, mostly for photographic film; and polyvinyl acetate for wood glue, and also many artificial fibres and fabrics.
