Human diploid number is 46 while the haploid number is 23 for a normal organism which may vary in a defect organism.

There are 46 chromosomes in all healthy human cells (except germ cells which are sperm and ova). The 46 are comprised of 23 pairs, hence the word diploid. The germ cells only have 23 chromosomes and are said to be haploid.
