It is in the centre that you can find the sun in the solar system and the name 'solar system' itself says a lot about the importance of the sun as it is named after it. But this theory is not in existence since time immemorial and earlier people thought that the earth is the centre of the solar system and the sun revolves around the earth. But some scientist faced all the obstacles and brought truth to the world. Sometimes they even had to pay with their life for telling the truth to the people.

Now the study of astronomy is in quite advanced stage and we have the equipment available to study all the phenomena of astronomy and the scientist that are involved in the process are revered and there is no threat to their life.

The sun is not in the exact center I can tell you that much since at the center of our galaxy is the super massive black hole.
