The working of a piston pump is quite complicated. The piston pump usually has two valves and a box that is used as a stuffing. There is a kind of a rotating bar which is attached to the piston pump's chamber like area. It is cut open on one end of it. The piston starts rotating inside the chamber and an amount of liquid is thrown out of the chamber and the hole.

Every time the piston rotates, it emits an equal amount of liquid which is a sort of an advantage of having a piston pump. There is also a piston pump which is known as a hydraulic piston pump which is supposed to work at high pressures without making any sound. It has the ability to suck the water and provide energy to it.
