There are various adjectives that can be used to describe Uranus. The majority of these are descriptive adjectives, some examples include:
  • Giant
  • Featureless
  • Slow

The first adjective in the list, giant, is probably the most relevant. The planet is the third largest in the solar system, only behind to Jupiter and Saturn in size. Although it is the third largest planet in the solar system when it comes to radius, it is only the fourth largest in terms of mass.

The planet is classed as featureless because images from the satellite Voyager 2 show very little cloud or storms that are present on both of the larger planets, Jupiter and Saturn.

It is referred to as a slow planet because of the speed of its orbit. It was originally not recognized as a planet because of the slow orbit and the fact that it was rather dim when compared to other planets.

Uranus was the first planet discovered with a telescope, it has a ring system and a number of different moons. The planet is the seventh furthest away from the sun and is named after the Greek God of the sky. It is sometimes referred to as one of the Ice giants, along with Neptune, because of its composition when compared to Jupiter and Saturn.

The planet revolves around the sun approximately once every 84 years, and is three billion km away from the sun. It is also one of the windier planets, it is thought this is mainly because of the gravitational pull of an unknown planet. Uranus has 13 known rings that range in color from bright blue to a dull grey.
