Physics has been described as the most fundamental aspect of natural sciences because of the way that chemistry and biology are dependent upon it and interact with it. For example, chemistry can be seen as a complex application of physics because it is focused on the interrelation of energy and matter. Biology applies chemical properties to living things and is, therefore, ultimately ruled by physics.

Basically, physics is the scientific study of the interaction of energy and matter. Energy can take many forms and includes light, electricity, radiation, gravity and motion. Matter is a massive subject and can be anything from sub-atomic particles, which are the particles that make up an atom, and the particles that make those particles and so on, up to stars and galaxies.

Physics works by observing the natural world and utilizing the scientific method to devise and test hypotheses. The objective of physics is to analyze the results of these experiments so that scientific laws can be formulated. These are often expressed in the language of mathematics, another subject closely tied to physics, and then it is possible to make predictions about other phenomena.

Because Physics is such a huge subject it is divided into very many different specific fields of study that include electronics, astronomy, biophysics and quantum physics, and affect our everyday lives in so many ways that the majority of us never ever think about.
