The earlier flash drives stores the data as the EEPROM does. It can store less data and cannot be erased by cells, But later some flash drives evolved as they can store more than one bit in a single cell, and also it could be erased cell vice, This came into a big achievement, that we can keep plenty of data on a small device. The first flash drive was introduced by IBM and Trek Technologies.
