George Eastman (1854-1932)
George Eastman founded the Eastman Kodak company and invented the the roll film, helping to bring photography to it’s main stream.
In 1874, Eastman became intrigued with photography, but found the process awkward. It required coating a glass plate with a liquid emulsion, which had to be quickly used before it dried.
After a few years of experimenting with british gelatine emulsions, Eastman had created a dry photographic plate. He then patented it in both america and the uk.
In 1884, Eastman developed a photographic medium that replaced fragile glass plate with an photo-emulsion coated on a paper roll also Known as the modern camera film.
