First of all, make sure you understand what is meant by cottage industries – in Britain these are usually crafts which people had originally as hobbies and then developed to sell the products on a small scale in tourist shops etc such as pottery or woodcrafts.
In developing countries, cottage industries are thing like carpet making and involve people working often in poor condition but using traditional skills – working in their own homes, children etc
