Producers collect sunlight and nutrients from the soil to make food for itself (photosynthesis) and then consumers eat the plants and get the energy they need from the plants to go and eat other consumers (Ex. Humans eat cows) then (Ex. Humans) die and the decomposers break down, or recycle the nutrients back into the soil.
