There is no frequency of our thoughts. But there is frequency of our brain waves. There are four types of brain waves. Alpha, beta, theta and delta. Alpha brainwaves are slower, and higher in amplitude. Their frequency ranges from 9 to 14 cycles per second. The frequency of beta waves ranges from 15 to 40 cycles a second. The frequency of theta brain waves , range is normally between 5 and 8 cycles a second. Delta. Here the brainwaves are of the greatest amplitude and slowest frequency. They typically center around a range of 1.5 to 4 cycles per second
Thoughts are not the same as brain waves. Human beings do have
thoughts, and those thoughts occur with a frequency. A "thought" might
be an idea, appearing in the brain in words, or it might be a memory,
appearing as an image or set of images. As a meditator, I am very aware
of the frequency of my thoughts. I am also aware that I can change the
frequency by placing my awareness on my breathing. If I place my
awareness on my breathing, my thoughts disappear from consciousness (I
have no idea if they are continuing, but out of consciousness). If I
lose concentration, then thoughts begin to intrude with a frequency that
I estimate at about 1/10 seconds.
