Weird, Its happening now in VA. It is pouring snow! We've gotten about 6inches today and now its thundering and lightening.
The snow is frozen rain so it is probably supposed to be a lightning storm.
I wasn't sure if I really heard it or not at first, but then I heard thunder a second time while it is like a blizzard outside!!! (This is in Topeka, KS)
It is blizzarding, with thunder and lightning in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and area right now. Never seen this before. Really weird...
We just experienced it this second in aberdeenshire scotland, we've had snow for days and now we have lightning, was just checking google to see if it was possible
Apparetly it is... Its called a "Thundersnow" I've never heard of it but I've been searching the internet about it and its true it could.
It's apparently rare, sometimes called "Thundersnow":

It's not just a Wiki legend. There are many other examples:
www.wrh.noaa.gov
Thunder is typically the sound from lightning ... Unless there's a livestock stampede.

I have been looking it up and it depends on where you live for example if you live at the coast then it is more likely considering the fact warmer weather from the ocean is moving inland. In a regular thunderstorm the cold and the hot react because of the negative and posatives in the atmosphere. Same for the coast example because of teh warmer moving into the land but if you live far inland I don't know what to say.
Yes I have just experienced it just now.The weirdest thing the snow is very blizzard like and there was a big flash, only one mind, then a very long rumble. As said before didnt think it was possible and never heard of it before
I don't think it can. It is impossible for it to snow and rain at the same time because snow needs a colder temperature than rain but I think there can be lighning anytime. It can also Thunder at any time to.
