The organelles in the cells carry out specific functions throughout the cell.  These structures have their shape to preform their functions.  For example in the plant cell, the cell wall supports and protect the cell.  This cell wall changes the structure of the cell though.  By having this certain structure it changes the functions happening in the cell. This is how the structure of a cell matches its functions.
