Floods in Malaysia
Unnaturally heavy rains in Johor and its neighbouring states in December 2006 had forced more than 90 000 people to leave their homes to hundreds of shelters around the country.
As the flood waters began receding,officials began to assist the victims to go back to their damaged homes.
A total of 26 403 flood victims are still being housed at the relief centres in Johor,which has been hardest hit by floods,the official Bernama news agency reported.
The flood claimed 15 lives,all from Johor,including two Nepalese nationals who were swept away by strong currents.
