A transgenic organism is an animal or plant that has had a foreign gene entered into it through a process called genetic engineering. Some people refer to these transgenic organisms as genetically modified but the correct term is a genetically engineered organism. It is complex but basically scientists insert a gene from say a fish and insert it into say a tomato ,so that the tomato ( hopefully) displays the desired fish trait . It is scientists once again playing God and this science could be very dangerous. Green groups have fought against the making of transgenic organisms for a long time. We never seem to be satisfied with what we have and the scientists seem to be allowed to do anything that they tell their governments is essential. However when we look back at scientists and their ideas there are many many flaws to what they have done. Then we have to deal with the consequences.
