Communication has changed a lot over time. In the beginning, cave paintings were used; they seem to be the oldest form of communication. After cave paintings came sign language and then the most common way of communication, speech. As humans developed, our ways of communicating did too. We were able to communicate all around the world with postal services. The letters were written by hand and taken wherever they were addressed, although they did take some time to get there. Typewriters were then invented and many people began to use this tool for writing letters as well. As more forms of communication came about, the postal service improved and even today, we use it frequently. Next, came the invention of the telephone. At first phones were large brick-like devices that were inconvenient and difficult to use. These then progressed into the cord phones in the 60s-80s. Finally, today, there are mobile phones and cordless home phones. There are also laptops  and computers, which make communication a lot easier and faster. All of these inventions and developments have made communicating with loved ones very easy.

Communication in the wider sense has made the world a smaller place.
The mass media now covers a global audience. We are now capable of communicating about issues and events as they happen. In the past it could take months for news to filter through and some more isolated communities knew very little about the world outside their own community.
Communication now can be almost instantaneous.

We are now aware of problems all around the world and have the opportunity to change the world as never before.
In the past , going back as far as the neolithic it took over a thousand years for farming to reach the British Isles from the near East. Travel was often very hazardous and arduous.
Issues which affect us on a global scale are now known throughout the world whereas in the past people tended to exist at a local communication level.
In a time when many people had to emigrate across the world to seek a better life it was often the case that families lost touch with each other but now there are so many forms of communication that people separated by thousands of miles can communicate daily if they can afford and wish to do so.

Since the beginning of mankind humans have had ways to communicate with each other. Even before the sign language they used to communicate with each other. During the Stone Age people communicated with each other through the use of 'Cave Paintings'. Being social animals humans had to find a way to communicate with each other, which led to the discovery of better means of communications. First there were cave paintings, then came the invention of sign language and then came the most advanced way of communication, the invention of speech.

As the centuries passed by, humans developed more and more ways to communicate with people who lived far away. The invention of postal service, invention of Telephone, cell phones, Computers and E-mail all have helped in communicating faster.

With all the possible ways of communication now available, it has changed the lives of every human being possible. People can now stay in touch with their loved ones from anywhere on the Planet. Life has been made easy due to these inventions, now making a call or sending a e-mail half way across the world is as simple as breathing.
