Most meteorites are relatively small, so they would have little effect on the much more massive Moon.  It would take an enormous asteroid to have a significant effect - Ceres is the largest and even that would cause little deflection.  However, the view from Earth would be spectacular.  There is evidence that in Anglo-Saxon times some monks saw the debris sent up by a meteorite impact.
