Over half of the Earth's volcanoes are present near the Pacific Ocean. Over 80 percent of the Earth's plane, both over and under sea level, is of volcanic source. There are almost 1500 active volcanoes. Most of the volcanoes are found in Indonesia, next Japan and then US. Mauna Kea is the biggest one, of about 30,000 feet. The majority of volcanoes are 10,000 to 100,000 years old.

Actually they are located along the mid ocean ridge systems, the things that (on the map) look like seems of a baseball. Not above water
