With a recession like this, it cause excess stress in people and most can't handle it so they turn to whatever reliese valve they can find, drugs, sex, crime, etc and some people turn to crime as a matter of survival itself but if economy goes downhill these things you list go uphioll as theres no money being circulated so businesses lay off off and the trickle down effect takes hold and goes up
