I don't know if this is "wasted" energy, but waking up in the morning seems to occasionally wear me out.

I'm generally subject to that on any given day.

I am usually a person that springs to life in the mornings . . . however Monday morning seem to have the bed pulling me back in with a bit more vigor then the other 6 days.
Make it a Rainy Monday, and I start questioning whether I am "Well" enough to go into work.

Through heat loss.

Change in energy(delta E) = heat(q) + work(w)

Using the simple definition of energy, the ability to do work, one can see that heat is always lost from the system, thus you could say energy is wasted.
