The word 'anions ' is attributed to the group of atoms that gain electrons and they have more negatively charged electrons that the positively charged particles called protons and thus they are considered as negatively charged.

The formation of anions happens with the phenomenon of the combination of halides with some negatively charged ions. Halides consist of the atoms of the group seventeen and four elements come under it; F, Cl, Br and I. The negatively charged ions that combine with it to form anions are O, S, N and P. These are -1 charge ions but there some -2 charged ions also that combine to form anions and they are oxygen and sulfur. Sometimes some -3 charged also form anions and in this context the elements that used are N and P.
