I grew up at Maple Bay, went to school in Duncan. Spent time in VIctoria and lived in Vancouver for 6 years.I moved to Winnipeg and lived there for many years and liked it but returned to Nanaimo Vancouver Island and have been here for 21 years (Departure Bay) . I have been around the world. Nanaimo has everything and you get your moneys worth as opposed to Victoria. Nanaimo has everything you need and want and is so close to so many great places like Vancouver or Tofino, Long Beach and Mount Washington.
Absolutely love it here and plan to move to the old Quarter downtown soon. ( a delightful downtown and gorgeous waterfront) Newcastle Island is a provincial park in the harbour. (Absolutely beautiful setting with lots of variety) Nanaimo also has the best climate in Canada. Victoria can seem cold because of so much wind. Love it in this underrated
beautiful city.

Vancouver Island, which is located in the province of British Columbia in Canada, is one of the best places to live in if you are considering moving to Canada. If you want to live in the city of Vancouver, the best places to live in are Whistler or the Sunshine Coast.

If you are looking for other options on Vancouver Island, in the Canadian province of British Columbia (which is abbreviated as BC), you could look at such places as Horseshoe Bay, Lions Bay, the Indian Arm Area, the North Shore of Vancouver, the western part of the city of Vancouver, Deep Cove, Lion's Gate Bridge, Burnaby Hills, Kits (which is located on the west side of the city), etc.

However, the decision regarding where to live on Vancouver Island depends upon a variety of factors, such as the prices of real estate, the proximity to schools and other infrastructural facilities, etc.
