On all continents, any bird with a short curved beak,(not an eagle or other member of that family, they can use their beaks to crack bones) all members of the parrot family including parakeets, macaws and the like are nut crackers. In NA any member of the nuthatch family, like the cedar waxwing. If you want to spot them, look for a bird that has a strong curved upper beak, short and a lower somewhat underslung beak. You can spot them any place there are large seeds or nuts.
