A body is in equilibrium position if net force acting on the body is equal to the zero. In equilibrium position, opposite horizontal forces cancel the effect of each other. Similarly, along vertical axis two forces, same in magnitude but different in direction, cancels the effect of each other. When a body is at rest, two forces are acting on the body which include normal force and body weight. The net force on the body is;
Net force = weight - normal force
If the net force is zero then;
0 = mg - N
Mg= N
So, two equal and opposite forces are acting on the body that are weight and normal force.
Net force = weight - normal force
If the net force is zero then;
0 = mg - N
Mg= N
So, two equal and opposite forces are acting on the body that are weight and normal force.
