What Is The Balanced Equation For Sodium Chloride And Potassium Nitrate?

NaCl + KNO3 --> NaNO3 + KCl
Sodium chloride + potassium nitrate --> Sodium Nitrate and Potassium chloride

Sodium chloride reacts with potassium nitrate to form potassium chloride and sodium nitrate. The reaction between sodium chloride and potassium nitrate is a double displacement reaction. The chemical formulas for sodium chloride, potassium nitrate, potassium chloride and sodium nitrate are NaCl, KNO₃, KCl and NaNO₃ respectively. The balanced chemical equation for the reaction is;

NaCl + KNO₃ ------ > NaNO₃ + KCl

There is no reaction as potassium has a higher affinity for the nitrate so sodium nitrate can't be formed
