It is like the guest said... About -27C in Scotland, I read that yesterday on a British newspaper site.

But basically it does not get cold in Britain... The newspapers were writing about, oh my god, "Sub-Zero" (C) Temperatures!!!

I wonder if anyone will survive? ;)

-27C even is not so cold, yes it is cold... But really it happens sometimes in continental climates and is no big deal since people are prepared for it. It is simply called a "cold spell"...

Reason UK is so warm during winter, even though it is farther north than many countries that experience colder continental climate weather, is because of the gulf stream and the fact it is surrounded by water.

There is a  ' History of British Winters' which states that in 1695 temp dropped to -23 but it doesn't say where.  But the coldest ever recorded is in Braemar,Scotland. Feb 11 1895 and again Jan 10 1982 it dropped to -27.2C !  Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
