The price of scrap metal varies worldwide greatly, and even in the United States alone, prices of scrap metal (specifically brass) can vary widely between $5.59 (from this source updated on the 5th April 2011; scrapmetalpricesandauctions.com/ ) per kilogram (which is $2.50 per pound for Brass). However other sources claim that brass is selling for $3.18 per pound; www.chacha.com/question/how-much-is-brass-currently-worth-pe However, many other sources were far less optimistic; www.blurtit.com/q553237.html claimed that 1 dollar per pound was reasonable. The quantity of brass is of course important when considering its worth. A large quantity of brass may be more valuable per pound than a small quantity, as metal in bulk is more useful to industries than small amounts. The quality of brass will affect its price, in addition the exact composition of the brass affects its physical and aesthetic properties and hence its utility and price. (Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, and the exact proportions these are mixed in affect the physical properties of the brass created. Most of the time a eutectic alloy is created, however this is not always the case.)
I have solid brass cabinet handles I cannot use. I wanted to know what the price per pound is to sell them.
Expect anywhere between 30 and 60 cents per pound based on current spot market scrap prices. Prices do fluctuate and vary based on region.
