The crust is the top layer of the earth where we are standing right now. It includes both the lands surface and the ocean bed. The crust of the earth sits on top of the lower layer called the mantle, which is molten rock (lava). The crust floats around on top of this mantle, hence the movement of the continents and oceans.

Crust is the outer most shell of the planets and moons. Our Earth's crust is most complex than any other planet's crust. These crusts contain incompatible elements. Earth's crust is made up of metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rocks. For more details, visit Crusts.

In the area of geology, a crust is the uppermost or the top layer of a planet, which is a component of its lithosphere. Crusts of planets are usually constituted of a less thick substance than its deeper layers. The crust of the planet earth is constituted mostly of the materials basalt as well as granite. The crust is less warm and tougher than the inner layers of the mantle and the core. On stratified planets like the Earth, the lithosphere floats on liquid intrinsic layers.

The crust also means the edge or the hard part of bread. The crust of the bread is generally the part that is cut out while making sandwiches. In pizzas, the crust is the outermost edge where the bread is thicker.

The word crust is defined as the outer layer of the Earth. It is also defined as a hard outer layer that forms the outer covering on the surface of something. Crust is also colloquially used to describe a negative characteristic of a person. A person who has crust is known as a crusty person. A crusty person is one who is rude and impertinent. A crusty person is disrespectful to others around him and does not hesitate to take liberties with other people, much to their discomfort at times.

To crust is to form a crust (the outer covering) or to form into a crust, especially seen on a slice of bread or any other baked product. In geology, the crust is defined as the layer on the outer surface of a planet. It is a part of the lithosphere of the planet. The main materials that make up the crust of a planet, namely basalt and granite, are less dense, cooler, harder and stronger than the ones that make up its inner layers, which are known as the mantle and the core.
