The three main parts of the brain are the  Cerebrum   Cerebellum and Brain stem.

Cerebrum is the largest part and is related to the functions of action and thought. The cerebrum has four sections called the lobes. These are frontal lobe, occipital lobe, temporal lobe and parietal lobe. The frontal lobe is responsible for planning, emotions, reasoning and movement. Temporal lobe is related to perception and recognition. This recognition is of the memory, speech and auditory stimuli. The occipital lobe processes whatever the person sees. The parietal lobe is responsible for the movement and orientation.

Cerebellum is the smaller part of the brain and has two hemispheres. It is responsible for coordinating the body movement, balance and posture.

The brain stem is located underneath the limbic system, is responsible for the basic functions such as heartbeat, breathing and blood pressure. The limbic system is responsible for a person's emotions.
