It is quite unclear what the actual Afro-Asian (African-Asian) countries are. There are many Afro-Asian people, which mean that they have both African black and Asian genes. The name 'Blasian' is also given to these people. These people live all over the world but some countries have significant numbers of these people than others. These countries are the United States, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, South Africa, Kenya, the United Kingdom, RĂ©union, Suriname, India and Madagascar.

There are some countries, which have a history with the Afro-Asians. Asian and African people mainly make up the population of Madagascar from countries such as Tanzania, Borneo, Kenya and Mozambique. These people are the main reason for the creation of the Malagasy speaking, Malagasy people.

  • The Cape-colored population of South Africa descend from European immigrants as well as slaves from Malagasy, South-East Asia and Ceylonese.
  • Slave masters and traders kidnapped and imported Chinese immigrants into the West Indies during the 1860's. Many Chinese people married Blacks and had children together during this time.
  • The Chinese Exclusion Act passed in 1882 in the United States. This means that the Chinese workers who stayed in the United States were now banned from being with their wives who remained in China. This caused Chinese men to settle into black communities, and many married black women.
In 1955, there was an Asian-African conference in Bandung, Indonesia to promote Afro-Asian economic and cultural cooperation and to oppose colonialism or neo-colonialism by either the U.S or the Soviet Union. The countries who participated in this conference were Afghanistan, Burma, Cambodia, Ceylon, People's Republic of China, Cyprus, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Leos, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Sudan, Thailand, Turkey, Democratic Republic of Vietnam, State of Vietnam and Yemen.
