There is a lot more to chemistry than you might think, and it does indeed have many contributions to man. Chemistry is not always just about looking at what chemicals do when they're mixed with others, but it's also concerned with biology. One of the main benefits of chemistry to man is that it's the driving force behind medication. Without chemistry, those who studied and work in the field of biology would not have the substances needed to treat people with ill health and to allow mankind to live for longer.

Chemistry obviously has a huge societal importance, too. Without chemistry a lot of modern technology would not exist. We rely on chemistry for our constant expanding of our scientific knowledge and how we apply that into modern technology. Things like silicon computer processors and petroleum engineering would simply not exist if people were not able to study chemistry.

Many people are choosing to study chemistry because of the huge benefits it gives society. It's a hands-on subject, and is one of the few things that can teach students about the natural world as well. It lets people practice math, too, as well as providing hand-on experiences within laboratories. It's a well-rounded science for a person to study and we are becoming increasingly reliant on it in this modern day.

It's significantly easier to get a job in chemistry than in other fields, too. Chemical engineers are very much in demand, especially in the United States, and can expect to start work at around $52,000 a year. Chemists often start at a median salary of between $30,000 and $40,000 a year, and are in demand as well. Chemists find it incredibly easy to work in either the public sector or the private sector, too.
