As far as the area of the land is concerned, Alaska is the largest state in U.S. It is twice the size of Texas, which is 2nd largest state in U.S. It is located in north-western region of Northern America. No other state shares a common border with this state. It was previously called Steward's Folly until gold was found by the year 1800. It has a population of 663,000.  The capital of Alaska is Juneau and the largest city is Anchorage. Its capital can be accessed only through ship or air. There are no road connections leading to Juneau. Alaska is known to be a part of continental U.S.    It has a total area of 663,267 sq miles i.e. 1,727,855 km2 having a length of 2,380km (1,479 miles) and a width of 1,300km (808 miles).

I don't know what is going on here because I keep reading Alaska is twice as big as Texas. I was born in Alaska; it was over 4 times the size of Texas when I was a kid! Neither State changed sizes. Must not be counting the Federal reserves anymore, eh?
