Some well known Filipino biologists are:
- Angel Alcala
Alcala's research in the Philippine forests and mountains led to more than 50 new amphibians and reptiles being accounted for. He also did extensive studies in marine biology; Angel Alcala is respected for inventing artificial coral reefs for marine rehabilitation which are now used all over fisheries in Southeast Asia.
- Eduardo Quisumbing
Eduardo Quiumbing is hailed for rebuilding the herbarium of the National Museum of the Philippines after it was destroyed in World War 2. He became an expert in many of the plants found in the Philippines including many medicinal plants and orchids.
- Carmen Velasquez
As a world expert in Parasitology, Carmen Velasquez discovered numerous fish parasites along with five parasites of mammals and two from birds. She spearheaded groundbreaking research publications on aquaculture, public health and conservation.

Alexander Fleming is the Scottish biologist who discovered the antibiotic known today as penicillin.
-Carl Linnaeus
Linnaeus was a Swedish biologist who is credited with developing the naming scheme of plants. He is known as the father of taxonomy.
-Louis Pasteur
Pasteur is a famous French microbiologist who did extensive work developing vaccines. He is one of the founders of bacteriology and the his work led to discovery of the process called 'pasteurization'- apty named after him.
