A primrose plant generally blooms well somewhere around January to April. These plants need to be taken care of in order to get the best from them. For this the first thing you need to do is place your plant in a very well lit area, which is not too warm also. Next you need to water the plant at least two to three times a week. Once the plant is completely bloomed it may be kept out in the sun. These plants are found in plenty somewhere around the early spring.
The other type of primrose is known as the evening primrose. The ideal time to plant this plant is around winter. They grow up to a height of about 30-50 cm tall. They grow well in rich soil and the watering should also be kept moist whilst growing.

The wholes in the leaves are probably from slugs.  It is not a sun-loving plant.  It likes shade and moist soil (try not to get the foilage wet when you water it).  Pick off wilted flowers (too much moisture combined with sun make the flowers mucky).  I'm trying to find out if picking off the stem of the flower will stimulate more flowers.  They usually finish blooming in late spring.  They will come back the next year but might not flower again unless you keep them really moist all year.  Also, the primrose most commonly available in retail outlets should be "split" at the end of the bloom and then replanted (they are rhizomes).

Bought primrose primula at walmart, variety gets 6-10" tall, 4-8 hrs sun, water 2-3 times a week. It has holes in the leaves and no longer blooming. Help - is it bugs eating on it? That's what it looks like. Powder of something to remedy this?

I was given a potted blooming primrose. It has quit blooming. Do I quit watering it and let it completely die down or do I keep watering it? Thanks for your answer.
