Sodas contain a form of glucose. Most types of sodas contain a few common elements: Carbonated water, flavouring, colouring, and sugar. Of course there are differences in tastes, and chemical composition, but the basics are the same!

Soda will definitely kill a plant 'cause their is too many other ingredients in it that clogs the osmosis process that plants use in photosynthesis. Therefor the water in soda won't be able to get through the roots. Juice may be alright for plants but remember, the other ingredients may interfere with osmosis and photosynthesis.
