Homeostasis is very important in maintaining the healthy functioning of the body because it keeps a number of factors within the correct range preventing them to rise above it or fall below it something that would endanger the survival of the organism. For example pH has to be kept within a tight range because any movement above or below it, will denature enzymes (they are proteins by composition) which are crucial to life. Likewise the osmotic pressure of blood has to be kept with tight limits to prevent the destruction of its cells e.g. They will burst if the water concentration in the blood becomes too high.
