It hit the southern coast of the US as a category 4 storm, with winds topping 225 km/hr. An estimated 80% of New Orleans was under water, 20 feet high in some places. The final death toll was 1,836 people.

Hurricane Katrina hit many places and effected many people. There were a couple of main places it hit such as florida, Louisiana and New orleans, however, it also hit other places like Bahamas, Cuba, Alabama and most of eastern North America. Many people were devastated about the incident and thought the rescue team could have done much more about it.

Hurricane Katrina was one of the five most deadliest Hurricanes in the history of United States that formed on August 23, 2005 and dissipated on August 30, 2005. This Hurricane formed over the Bahamas and crossed Southern Florida as a moderate category hurricane. It then strengthened rapidly while on Gulf of Mexico. Then it hit with full force on New Orleans, Louisiana.

This storm damaged a lot of property and took thousands of human lives. According to estimates this hurricane cause 81.2 billion dollars damage to the area. That is why it is said to be the costliest hurricane of the area. It caused 1,836 lives, and 705 people went missing. It affected most of eastern North America and Bahamas, South Florida, Cuba, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Panhandle etc.

Hurricane Katrina occured on the 23rd of August over the Bahamas. It formed on the Gulf coast and Killed over 1,836 people. It was one of the 5 deadliest Hurricanes and cost over $81 billion worth of damage.
