Where is the Sahara desert located?
The Sahara covers the northern section of Africa, and spreads over almost the entire top" of the continent. It is the largest hot desert in the world, as well as the second largest desert on earth after Antarctica. The Sahara covers all or part of Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Sudan, Tunisia and Western Sahara.
The Sahara is located on the continent of Africa.  It runs through 11 countries and a part of Africa known as Western Sahara.
Most world deserts are located between 30 degrees North and 30 degrees South latitude
The total are of Sahara is 9,000,000 square kilometers and it is as big as America.

The Sahara basically is the biggest hot desert in the world; it is the second biggest desert after the Antarctica. The total are of Sahara is 9,000,000 square kilometres and it is as big as America.

Sahara is situated in Northern Africa and said to be around 2.5 million years old. The term Sahara is an English pronunciation of the Arabic term for desert. The Sahara desert is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean towards the west, the Atlas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea towards the north, the Red Sea and Egypt towards the east and Sudan as well as the valley of Niger River towards the south.

There have been human settlements towards the edge of the desert from the past 500,000 years. There are approximately 2.5 million people residing in the Sahara presently, most of these are based in Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco and Algeria.
