Stratigraphy is the study in which the scientific details of the layers and strata of sediments are evaluated, described and interpreted. Stratigraphy includes the study of non-ossified sediments along with the study of sedimentary rocks. The non-ossified sediments involve stream beds and lake bottoms as well as rocks originated from volcanic ash and lava. According to the sedimentation principle, the most recent set of layers are closest to the top in a given structure of a rock. Hence, the sedimentation process helps the stratigraphic researchers to determine the valuable information regarding the surface condition as well as innermost condition of earth, its age and historical metamorphosis. The study of Stratigrpahy also interrelated to the study of geology, archaeology and palaeontology by means of providing valuable information relating to the stratigraphic analysis.
