Southampton basically is a city located towards the southern coast of England. It is said to be the nearest city to New Forest, which is located halfway amid Portsmouth and Bournemouth.

Southampton is positioned towards the northern-most section of Southampton Water where it combines with River Test and River Itchen. A person living Southampton is addressed as Sotonian. Even though Stone Age settlements are known to have subsisted in this region, the primary stable settlement was built by the Romans.
