The green color of the plant is due to the green pigment present in chloroplast. The green pigment, which is present in chloroplast, is known as chlorophyll. Chlorophyll helps plant to make food. It absorbs sunlight and converts this light into energy. This energy is necessary in the process of photosynthesis.
