There are dozens of different pieces of laboratory equipment that can be used for all kinds of experiments. There are different pieces used in different labs for example, a biology lab will have slightly different equipment to a chemistry lab. But they will all use several common pieces

• Burette - The burette is used in titrations to measure precisely how much liquid is used.
• Pipette - The pipette is used for moving small amounts of liquid from one location or container to another. Can be made of either glass or plastic if they need to be disposed of.
• Bunsen burner - Bunsen burners are used for heating and exposing items to flame. They have many more uses than a hot plate, but do not replace a hot plate.
• Tripod - a three legged stand used to place things on, and rest them over the flame of a Bunsen burner.
• Microscope - A microscope is an instrument used to see objects that are too small for the naked eye. Commonly seen in biology labs.
• Crucible - used to heat small quantities to very high temperatures. Common in chemistry labs.
• Funnel - used to transfer liquids into any container so they will not be lost or spilled.
• Test tube rack - The test tube rack is used to hold test tubes while reactions happen in them or while they are not needed.
• Thermometer - The thermometer is used to measure the temperature of solids, liquids, and gases. They are usually measured in degrees Celsius but can also be measured in degrees Fahrenheit.
• Watch glass - used to hold solids when being weighed or transported. Watch glasses should never be heated.
• Tongs - Tongs are used to hold many different things such as flasks, crucibles, and evaporating dishes when they are hot.
