Deserts are covered with sands.  Sands have a tendency to absorb heat quickly and release it slowly. In the day sands got extremely heated by the burning sun and such hotted sands releases heat slowly. At night cold wind blows from the sea to deserts releases heat fully and makes it cold. This is the reason why the desert remain hot in the day and cold at night.

In geographical terms, any landscape form or region receiving very little precipitation is known as a desert. Deserts are very arid and they can experience very high temperatures of over 50°C. It is imprtant to note that although the desert is extremely hot during the day, it gets very cold at night. Sand grains have lots of air space between them and there is a tendency for water to filter through them. Hence, they tend to remain moist. It is mostly a very shallow layer of sand that is heated through the day and at night it cools a lot more efficiently. The drier the air, the greater the evaporation from your skin. This process cools your skin. These factors lead to very cold nights in the arid desert. So the next time you are planning a trip to the desert, remember to pack in those extra sweaters and warm clothes.

In Deserts the sand is very dry and so it does not catch heat and humidity and when sun sets it gets cool in the nights

Because the heat is kept in by the clouds in the sky but at night there are no clouds so the heat can escape :D
