As a resident of a hurricane prone area, we prepare by stocking up on supplies (food, water, toiletries, etc.) long before the hurricane season. Then as the storm approaches we board up windows and make sure all loose items around the yard are out of the way. We evacuate if the word is given to evacuate. Do not take these storms lightly and always prepare well beforehand.
